Radicalization of the Czech society in reaction to occurence of COVID-19 disease

The submitted diploma thesis deals with the issue of radicalization of the population in the Czech Republic, which is a constantly evolving phenomenon and the crisis caused by the COVID-19 epidemic could affect this process, when the submitted diploma thesis underlines important facts related to this phenomenon. The thesis contains a theoretical part, in which the author focuses onto the introduction and views of concepts related to the chosen topic, such as radicalism and extremism. The author briefly present the position of individual ideologies that create the process of radicalization of the population and have an affect to cause extremist manifestation of individuals or groups. The chosen problem points to the danger which point to the democratic society and the trend of so-called populists in the political spectrum, who come in times of crisis with an often simple but unfeasible solution to the situation. Within such a connection of the crisis in the form of COVID-19 and the impact of possible radicalization of the democratic civilian population, this theses monitors and evaluates such events when the current measures in the fight against the radical scene in the Czech Republic are summarized by the relevant state departments and the student suggest his own measures. As the last point of this theses the found data of security risks and measures are compared on an international scale.

First part deals with basic concepts such as extremism, radicalism and totalitarianism. It also describes concepts of right and left. Second part deals with far-left ideologies such as communisms and anarchism. It describes their history and ideology. It also describes situation in modern Czech history after 1989. The topic of third part is far right ideologies, including Nazism, fascism, neo-Nazism and neo-fascism.

"The End of the Waves of Modern Terrorism? A Revisionist Analysis on a Fluid Concept"

Benito Olmos, Martina Abstract Terrorism is a resilient phenomenon that has fascinated policy-makers and academics for centuries and gained particular attention after the events of 9/11 in the United States. The 21st century has seen significant changes in society that have equally impacted terrorism. The ignition of the post-modern era changes the way people think, behave, and communicate with one another, influencing terrorist trends as well. Examining the latest tendencies in society and their effects on terrorism, the thesis explores David C. Rapoport's influential Wave Theory on Modern Terrorism to evaluate its validity in representing the current post-modern reality. Rapoport provided a highly acclaimed model to understand modern terrorism according to a set of characteristics. Operationalising these factors, the author organised transnational terrorism into four consecutive waves. The Wave Theory has inspired other academics to speculate on the possibility of future waves. Providing an extensive literature review analysis and secondary data description on this topic, this thesis interlinks social trends with terrorist patterns. The party Levice and its inclusion in the political spectrum

This bachelor thesis focuses on a case study of the political party Levice and its ideological basis. It aims to answer the question whether it's possible to talk about the party Levice as a radical or extremist party. Introductory theoretical part focuses on the definition of the theoretical framework that contains the definition of the basic concepts that are crucial for this bachelor thesis. Those include extremism, radicalism, populism and the theory of antisystem parties. Second part of the theoretical framework focuses on the definition of the basic far-left political ideologies, i.e. marxism, communism and anarchism, whereas in the case of communism, its basic individual variants are also mentioned. Research part of the thesis is then divided to several units. To put it in the context of the far left in the Czech Republic, it is important to describe the development of the far left political entities excluding the party KSČM during period from 1989 to presence. Subsequently, the party Levice is briefly introduced in the terms of circumstances of its origin, current activities of the party and its organizational structures. This thesis deals with the far-right parties in the European Parliament. Emphasis is placed on the situation after the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 and the post-election negotiations to create a single far-right political groups. The work introduces the theoretical concepts of the far-right, nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, populism and euroscepticism. It also deals with the issue of the European Parliament, the formation of political groups and the character of the European elections. Far-right parties in the European Parliament are presented in a separate chapter, which deals with the history of their associating into political groups, the results of the 2014 European elections and negotiations about possible cooperation. Rhetoric and ideology of the far-right is presented on the example of three parties - the National Front, the UK Independence Party and the Golden Dawn.

Workers party (of social justice)

This thesis deals with the development and position of the far-right Workers Party (DS) and the Workers Party of Social Justice (DSSS) in the political system of the Czech Republic. The work also includes a theoretical part, dealing with different views on extremism and radicalism. Also discussed is the position of the far-right parties in Central and Western Europe. The main goal is to capture the roots of the Workers 'Party, but also action and ideological bases its successor the Workers Party of Social Justice. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of the party and demonstrations. They are namely the main way to reach supporters. The thesis also analyzes the election results of DS (DSSS) and try to include the party in the Czech party system according to the theory of Giovanni Sartori. There is also a description of the organizational structure of the party and its affiliated organizations. The last chapter discusses the symbolism and iconography of the party.

Radicalization of the Greek Society and the Rise of Political Extremism in Greece (2000-2012)

This essay describes the radicalization of the Greek society and the rise of the political extremism in Greece in the period of 2000-2012. In this time important changes could have been observed in the Greek political scene and in the society which were linked to the polarization of the electorate and the growth of populism, nationalism, euroscepticism, xenophobia and racism. As a result of modernizing efforts of Constantinos Simitis cabinet (1996-2004), which were related to the Greek ambition to become fully-fledged member of the EU and the Eurozone, under the influence of globalization, immigration crisis and finally the recent slump of the Greek economy, a new social conflict emerged in Greece. This essay analyzes these problems from the perspective of the cleavages theory by Seymour M. Lipset and Stein Rokkan and tries to find social and political roots of such conflict. The radicalization of the Greek society between 2000 and 2012 does not represent a new phenomenon, but is is a continuation of long-term ideological clashes present in the Greek social reality since the World WarI. After identifying the main cleavages in interwar and postwar period the essay identifies the main conflict of Greece after the fall of junta in 1974. Salafi da'wa: missionary methods of german movement Salajifa on the example of campaign "Lies!"

An increasing number of supporters of Salafi Islam in Germany has recently been a much discussed topic. The German Salafist movement is a radical branch of Islam, which is characterized by a fundamentalist way of life according to a literal interpretation of the Koran. To the German public, this movement is known mainly for its major propaganda activities. In Germany this movement has grown in popularity within a short time and now holds a special position. Salafists have earned acclaim for their numerous activities, such as "Islamic seminaries" or their significant Internet propaganda. The activities of the movement are viewed with concern not only by the media, the political scene and the German public, but also by the German secret service. In particular the German intelligence service is currently struggling with the problem of the growing number of supporters of an Islamic state and their departure to Syria and Iraq. The question of preventing this radicalization, especially of young German Muslims, remains in many respects still unanswered.
